Masala Pori, also known as Spicy puffed rice is a popular street snack sold in the beaches in India. This is a crunchy guilt-free addictive treat that’s perfect for munching on any time of day.

Kaara Pori / Masala Pori (Puffed Rice)
A crunchy, guilt-free treat with peanuts, chana dal, and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 4 cups Pori (puffed rice)
- 1/2 cup Peanuts small sized
- 8 cloves Garlic thinly sliced
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Sambar powder
- 1/4 tsp Hing (Asafoetida)
- 1 tbsp Oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat oil, add peanuts and roast till light brown. Add roasted chana dal, curry leaves, red chillies, garlic and fry for a minute.
- Add turmeric powder, sambar powder, hing, and salt. Mix well.
- Then add the cut green chillies, turmeric powder and fry for a minute. Add Brussel sprouts and salt and mix them well.
- Add turmeric powder, sambar powder, hing, and salt. Mix well.
- Allow it to cool and store it in an airtight container. Believe me, at my place, it gets over in two days 🙂
Tips
- I add Sambar powder instead of Red chilli powder because it gives a good flavor.
- Fry it in low/medium flame or else it will get burnt.
- Feel free to increase/decrease the quantity of ingredients, it’s purely your choice in this recipe.
