Namma Cookbook

Vanakkam/Hello. I’m Lakshmi Thiru, a Computer Science Engineer turned Montessori Teacher. I am also a mom of a foodie family including my husband, kids, and our beloved Simba, who we lost last year. Our kitchen is always bustling with delicious creations and unforgettable flavors. I’m excited to invite you into our culinary world.

So, why a recipes blog? We live in New Jersey and our everyday meal is mostly home cooked. When my kids grew up and started asking for my recipes that have been cherished in our family for generations, I felt inspired to document them, preserving not just the ingredients and techniques but also the stories and traditions that accompany each dish. We are from Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu and we wanted to include our family’s traditional dishes which I have learnt mostly from my Amma. Since, we are also foodies who are passionate about exploring different cuisines and flavors, whether it’s through our travels in the real or virtual world or seeking out the best eats in our own neighborhood. So, not just traditional but you will find different flavors around the world, in this blog. Each one of them tried and tested in our kitchen. The recipes here are simple to read.

Join us as we delve into the heart of our culinary heritage, exploring the rich tapestry of flavors that have shaped our family & friends gatherings and celebrations for years. From aromatic spices to secret family recipes, we invite you to discover the essence of passing on traditions from one generation to the next. Welcome to our kitchen table – where every recipe tells a story. as we share our favorite recipes, culinary adventures, and heartfelt memories. Let’s cook, eat, and savor life’s delicious moments together.
