This simple yet delicious rice dish pairs perfectly with Vegetable Kurma and a side of potato chips. With easy steps and aromatic flavors, it's a comfort food favorite. You can elevate it further by adding paneer, cashews, and raisins for an extra touch of richness.
Soak Basmati rice for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, heat ghee in a pan, add the whole masalas under seasoning.
Saute for a minute and add green chillies, sliced onions, and fry till translucent.
Then add the ginger garlic paste and sauté well.
Add the soaked and drained rice and fry well without breaking the rice for 3 minutes in medium flame.
Add coconut milk and water, salt and mix well and let it boil.
Once it starts boiling, keep the pan covered in low flame till rice is cooked. It will take approximately 15 minutes. The whole area will be filled with a nice aroma and your kids will be extra hungry that meal.
Tip
Can add small cubes of paneer at the end when the rice is cooked. I usually cut paneer and let it soak in hot water for couple of minutes and add it to the recipe so it is soft and tasty.
Add roasted cashews and raisins for extra richness to the flavorful ghee rice.
