Fish Fry
Indulge in Indian-style salmon fish fry, marinated in aromatic spices, pan-fried for a smoky, spicy, and savory masterpiece. Pair with rasam and rice or enjoy as a snack.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Skinless Salmon fillet
- 2 tbsp Red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Dhania (Coriander) powder
- 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 tbsp Lime/Lemon juice
- 1 sprig Curry leaves
- 1 Red Onion thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp Sesame oil (for tawa fry)
- Water to make a paste
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Cut the salmon fillet into whatever size you wish. If it is too thick, make slits on the fillet.
- Mix the following ingredients to make a paste – Red chilli powder, turmeric powder, dhania powder, ginger garlic paste, lime juice, water and salt. Taste the marinade and adjust salt, spice as needed. If it is too spicy, add more lime juice. Smear the marinade on the fish fillets and set aside for an hour.
- Mix 1/2 tbsp of the marinade to the thinly sliced red onions and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan or an iron griddle, keep the flame in medium, add the curry leaves and then place the marinated fillets over the curry leaves. Let it cook for about 5 minutes on one side. Flip it over and cook on the other side for about 4 minutes or until nice and crisp.
- Remove the fish fry on a plate. In the same oil, add the marinated onions and saute for couple of minutes. Sprinkle this on top of the fish fry and enjoy it with simple rasam and rice. My personal fav is to have it with sambar and rice.
Tips
- Simple and tasty alternative would be the store bought masala. My favorite is Shakthi fish fry masala(3 tbsp) + Salt (as needed) + Ginger garlic paste (2 tsp) + Lime juice (2 tbsp) + Water.
- Squeeze some lemon on top and enjoy it as a snack. My family loves it for lunch, evening snack and for dinner again 🙂
- You can use any type of fish – pomfret or king fish tastes good too.
